American supermaxi Comanche is closing the gap on Wild Oats XI and remains confident of catching the leader as the pair battle for line honours in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
After stretching to a lead of more than 40 nautical miles overnight, Wild Oats XI was reeled in on Sunday morning by Comanche, which maintained speeds above 20 knots coming down Tasmania’s east coast.
