Ricky Ponting becomes head coach of Mumbai Indians

• Australian previously captained the team in 2013

• Indian Premier League restarts in April next year

Ricky Ponting has been appointed head coach of the Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians.

The 39-year-old former Australia captain, who retired from international cricket in 2012, previously captained Mumbai in a short spell with the team in 2013 and takes over from John Wright before the new season, which starts in April next year.
