New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in first Test despite spirited resistance


  • New Zealand 441 and 107-2 beat Sri Lanka 138 and 407 (f/o)

  • Sri Lanka’s 59-run partnership for 10th wicket delays New Zealand victory


New Zealand have beaten Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the first Test at Christchurch, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor knocking off the required runs to take a lead in the series.


Shaminda Eranga and Suranga Lakmal had earlier put on 59 for the last wicket to lift Sri Lanka to 407 in its second innings, setting New Zealand a chase for 105.
