Mark Webber has said he is a “lucky boy” following his frightening high-speed crash in Brazil, believing the angle of impact saved him from more serious injury.

A relieved Webber, who gave the thumbs up as he was taken away on a stretcher following the crash, Tweeted: “Yesterday I was a lucky boy. The correct angle of impact saved me. Thanks everybody for your incredible messages and support. #recovering.”
