Padraig Harrington ends long wait for PGA Tour title with win at Honda Classic

• Harrington secures victory via play-off at tournament in Palm Beach

• Title is 43-year-old Irishman’s first since US PGA triumph in 2008

Padraig Harrington won his first PGA Tour event since the 2008 US PGA Championship with a play-off victory over Daniel Berger at the Honda Classic.


The Irishman needed a birdie on the last to secure his place in the play-off with a 70 after a double bogey on 17 had given Berger the outright lead. And after both men claimed routine pars on 18 in the play-off, Harrington hit his tee shot close and two-putted on 17 while Berger found the water off the tee and recorded a double-bogey five.
