Formula One’s Bernie Ecclestone offers advance payment to ‘smaller’ teams

• Sauber, Force India and Lotus gain help with cash-flow

• Suppliers want pay up front after losing money last year

• McLaren admit they will be off the pace in F1 until May

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has offered advance revenue payments to Sauber, Force India and Lotus to help with cash-flow problems ahead of the season opener in Australia on Sunday.

“Bernie understands we’ve had these challenges over the winter because the [team] suppliers got so badly hurt by the Marussia and Caterham issues,” Force India deputy principal Bob Fernley told Reuters on Monday.
