Leeds supporters group welcomes Russell Crowe’s interest in buying club

The working group supporting fan ownership of Leeds United has welcomed apparent interest in the club from Russell Crowe. The Oscar-winning actor caused a stir among fans on Wednesday when he asked his 1.6m Twitter followers whether or not he should buy the club.

The 50-year-old is a lifelong fan of Leeds and tweeted a message of support when they beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Saturday. He caused further ripples on Wednesday when he replied to a tweet from a supporter, asking him if he would consider buying Leeds.

“@Samwild90: @russellcrowe please buy leeds. In need of help!!” Anybody else think this is a good idea?
